THE NORA AUNOR WEBSITE

Finally, the long wait is over! After almost three years of tedious research and collating of materials, Nora Aunor: ICON of Philippine Cinema (www.nora-icon.com and www.nora-aunor.com), the official ICON website of Ms. Nora Aunor, is now ready for surfing.

The Nora Aunor ICON Website is not merely a fan site but is a tribute to the artistry of Nora Aunor. It has a home page that features Nora as the iconic Elsa. It has a look that will make the world, fans and non-fans, see THE ARTIST not just the 'superstar' – because she IS a multi-media artist par excellence. The website aims to be a worthy source of history of Nora the Artiste, from her teeny-boopy-no-more-than-singing parts in her early movies to her transformation into an acting GREAT that she is now. The girl borne out of the masses and made commercial movies that endeared herself to the masses is the same lady who in the process of improving her craft had raised the level of awareness of the masses and made them appreciate critically acclaimed quality movies, most of which she starred in herself.

The site features Nora’s complete filmography and discography as well as a listing of her television shows, stage outings and concerts. It also features a complete list of awards and recognitions bestowed on the country’s one and only Superstar and a rich archive of articles and rare photos.

All About ICON

The International Circle of Online Noranians (ICON) is a sister Nora Aunor fan club of GANAP or Grand Alliance for Nora Aunor Philippines (with different chapters all over the country) and the Federation of Nora Aunor Followers (umbrella organization of all Nora Aunor fans clubs organized since 1967). It’s a different composition however as its members obviously are all computer-literate and mostly young professionals. The group was born on September 20, 2000 when Leonel Escota, a Noranian based in New York, created an online discussion group at Yahoo to serve as a venue to discuss the artistry of Nora Aunor and relive Noramania.

ICON was incorporated as an organization in Texas, USA with Leonel as its president. It was later on incorporated in the Philippines in 2006. From a membership of eleven on its initial year, ICON has grown with more than seven hundred members from all over the world. At present, ICON is divided into four chapters namely USA, Asia-Pacific (Philippines, Japan, Australia), Middle East and Canada and it is current headed by Dr. Dennis Ang of Indianapolis, USA.

As an organization, ICON seeks the to establish an on line forum that encourages appreciation of Miss Nora Aunor’s body of work among the general public through discussions, documentation, awareness, and collaboration with other relevant and interested parties in preserving her artistic contribution to the Philippine movie industry and to continue to support her continued success.
